Gil Birman from AllFlashWebsite.com has published a very comprehensive tutorial for seamlessly combining 2D and 3D in Flash with planes.

Part 1 starts with the simplest problem where the camera is pointed at the origin and doesn’t move, but part 2 covers advanced cases and wraps the functionality in an easy to use BasicViewPlus class that extends BasicView.
