John has posted a really cool demo that shows how to get XY texture coordinates from a 3D object using the InteractiveScene3DEvent object.
Check it out here.
A couple of really great examples of contributions from the Papervision3D development community come in the form of a new cylinder primitive from Paul Neave and some nifty destroy methods from Jonathan Pace from Unwrong.
Derek from etherealDesign comes to the rescue of those desperately trying to install Feeling Software’s ColladaMaya plugin on a Mac with Leopard.
He has recompiled the plugin for Maya 2008/CG 2.0, which you can get here.
You also have the option of using the COLLADA export option of the FBX library that comes with Maya.
DNBmedia is looking for an Actionscript 3 expert with good Papervision3D skills to join their team in Amsterdam.
We’ve got great news for our French readers because Thibault Imbert has released his book Pratique d’ActionScript 3 for free.
In 21 chapters and over 1000 pages, Thibault covers almost every aspect of practical AS3 programming, from What’s ActionScript 3? to Final Application.

Fabian Vercuiel has written a very detailed tutorial on Installing Papervision3D on Flash and Flex.
He’s also posted Introduction to Maya: The User Interface, another great tutorial for those starting with Maya.
One of my favourite PV3D components is this is great CoverFlow Flex component by Doug McCune.
He’s also got a vertical version and a Carousel in case you feel a bit retro. An easy way to add some 3D to your Flex work.
Dennis Ippel from rozengain.com has just submitted his exporter for Blender.
It exports geometries to PV3D 1.7 and Great White classes, so you can embed your Blender objects as classes inside your swf, instead of loading or parsing them from COLLADA.
